Search Top How do I search for a business?
Find the search box at the top of the page. Next, make sure the Business tab has been selected. (If it is, it will be darker in colour than the Person and Reverse Lookup tabs). In the white text box, enter a business name (e.g. The Sneaker Emporium), business type (e.g. florist) or service (e.g. home insurance). For best results, include a city or province in your search words.
What is a proximity search?
A proximity search finds businesses near a specific location. You enter a business name, business type or service in the search box and then include a postal code, intersection or landmark.
e.g. florist M6G 2Z3
florist Bathurst St. and Bloor St. W.
florist CN Tower
The search results will be ranked from closest to farthest from the postal code, intersection or landmark.
If you don’t specify a location, you’ll get results based on the location of your IP address.
If you set addresses in your 411.ca account, you have the option of re-ranking search results closest to a location, such as your home or work. These options are found in the left-hand column of search results.
There are a number of ways you can modify your results:
In the left hand column is a side bar showing Categories, Features and Cities and below that are refinement tabs containing groups of attributes (eg, Bakeries, Delivery, Mississauga) related to your search.
Click on a tab to expand the related attributes. Each will be displayed with a number next to it, indicating how many of the businesses in your current set of results contain that attribute.
When you click on specific Categories, Features or Cities, you narrow your search results by the term you select. To unselect the term, move your mouse over the word and click the X. You can select multiple terms, your results will show businesses with at least one of the terms you pick.

There isn’t a right or wrong way to write reviews. But here are some tips:
Have fun
If you enjoy writing your review, chances are people will enjoy reading it.
Include specific details
Use details to paint a picture (e.g. The coolest part was definitely the mechanical bull, which for a toonie bucks and snarls for a solid two minutes.)
Avoid exaggeration
It can be tempting to overstate the facts—especially when you’ve had a bad experience. But exaggeration quickly destroys your credibility with people who know the business you’ve reviewed.
Answer standard questions
Think of the common questions people ask about the type of business you’re reviewing and include the answers in your review. For example, restaurant goers want to know about the food, service, ambiance and price of a place.
Back it up
It’s fine to have strong opinions about a business. Just make sure you can support it with facts.
Share a bit of yourself
The meat of your review should be facts. But write-ups get their flavour from your personality. Make sure it shines through in your writing.
What you review is really up to you, from your favourite restaurant to the salon that gave you the worst haircut ever. Just make sure your review is based on first-hand experience.
