Description
I earned a Bachelor in Fine Arts at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1989. In 2000 I completed my Bachelor of Education at Queen\s University.
After exploring many art forms such as painting, printmaking, pottery and sculpture, my passion lies with mosaic art. The mosaic process inspires me and I love the challenge of finding unique and interesting objects to incorporate into my work...reclaim, reuse, reimagine. My love of nature drives my esthetics with organic, curvilinear lines and shapes.
I discovered the mosaic medium when I was teaching art at a local high school and I have never looked back. Now that I am an elementary teacher I continue to teach students mosaic making as a fundraiser event.
My work has been juried and published in the MOSAIC ART of CANADA calendar of 2007 and 2009, 2010 MOSAIC ART NOW international collection of mosaic artists CD, and I am a recent member of SAMA (Society of American Mosaic Artists), and ACOTTI (Art Council of the Thousand Islands)
Over the years many people have asked if I taught courses on how to create mosaic art. With my background in fine arts and education it seems like a natural progression to me.
Feel free to visit my website to view information about classes and workshops.
I hope to see you soon!
