About Us
Our main focus is interacting and promoting social and cognitive skills in a safe and supportive environment with all the children in care. We decided to become daycare owners because we are passionate about children and care about their well being. We enjoy seeing children strive, grow and develop in a safe stimulating and fun environment. We also believe that a proper balanced diet, love, care, an environment that is interesting, interactive and nurturing can allow a child to reach their full potential as they grow and develop. Philosophy We believe that children learn best when they engaged in hands- on learning activities, therefore all the children in our care are encouraged to be the authors of their own learning. Through their play, they engage in self-discovery, problem solving and collaboration with their peers. ??As they explore the environment, their curiosity is peeked; this enables them to examine relationships between objects, actions and people. The children learn a variety of concepts that they will later apply to new situations and experiences. We encourage the children to be adventurers and explorer the whole learning environment. As educators, we are the facilitators and guides that assist them in understanding and expanding their discoveries and abilities. Curriculum The curriculum is a balanced between indoor and outdoor activities, as well as a variety of individual, large and small group activities. French and English programming is done through-out the day. We use a combination of Reggio Emilia, Montessori and High scope Curriculum to plan programming. Teachers pay close attention and respond to each child’s interests, abilities and learning style. Using a variety of hands-on materials, learning is made fun and functional. Children have opportunities to explore a wide variety of activities and play materials, which promote their motor, cognitive, social-emotional, adaptive and communication skills. Nutrition Our daycare is geared toward providing quality care, healthy home cooked meals for all children. We strive to provide fresh organic fruits and veggies daily with all our meals. We strongly believe that process foods are lacking in many nutrients and should be consumed sparingly; therefore we provide all natural homemade meals such as homemade bread, yogurt, veggie soups etc. During the summer and spring months we purchase fresh fruits and veggies from our local farmers. (When we buy local we are supporting our farmers and building community) All prepared meals are peanut and nut free.Our cleaning supplies are all eco-friendly and hand made using all natural products. We believe that natural products are the best because it does not irritate the skin but allows it to breathe thus keeping it healthy. We believe that our little hands at Hazel's Daycare Centre should be washed with the purest and best natural products to prevent skin irritation since we are constantly washing hands to eliminate the spread of germs and bacteria.
