I enjoy teaching piano to people of all ages, particularly children! The following describes my education and experience - Bachelor of Music, Music Education from University of Prince Edward Island (1997).
*Bachelor of Music Therapy from University of Windsor (1999) *Accredited Music Therapist (2008) *Level 1 Teaching Seminar for Music for Young Children, June 2009. *I have been teaching privately for 8 years, in addition to working as a music I ttherapist at a long term care facility *teach elementary music at a small private school in Halifax. Offering Individual piano lessons and group lessons. Group lessons are through Music for Young Children. "Children are the center of MYC© their learning styles and needs are met through a multi-sensory approach. The understanding of music will expand into positive problem-solving skills, areas of self-expression, the growth of memory skills and excellent self-confidence and self-esteem. With these natural outcomes children can easily take on the skills required to make them successful students in school. In MYC, children meet in small groups, in their own age category, once a week for an hour, accompanied by an adult (parent, grandparent or caregiver) who participates in the program. The program lasts from three to five years, depending on the age of the child, with each year typically consisting of 36 lessons." ~MYC Website SUNRISE The Sunrise program from MUSIC FOR YOUNG CHILDREN is a pre-keyboard program including singing, rhythm, games, movement, and workbook activities Children will learn many pre-keyboard and pre-school skills, such as left-to-right reading, reading rhythms, pattern recognition, working in a group, and recognizing high/low, fast/slow, and loud/soft. Ages 2.5-4 with parent/guardian Sunshine 1 - ages 3 and 4 Group piano lessons with parents Sunbeams 1- Ages 5 and 6 Group piano lessons with parents Please contact for prices etc.
