Description [ edit ]
Brothers and business partners Jay and Sanjeev Sethi opened 259 Host, the fourth Host restaurant in the Greater Toronto Area, earlier this month. But the pair decided to brand their new downtown locale - ”a multilevel restaurant on Wellington Street West - ”differently than their Indian restaurants in Yorkville, Richmond Hill, and Mississauga. Although the restaurant serves authentic Indian food, it does so in a more creative manner.
The menu includes appetizers like panir and Brie cheese croquettes in a savory crust of gram flour and lentil flakes and tangy chaat of rice cakes served with crispy spinach fritters, yoghurt and fresh date chutney. Main courses such as lobster tail coated with fresh red pepper paste, coconut, and baby spinach (cooked in a tandoor) are offered. Four-year-old aged basmati rice accompanies each dish.
The entire space seats 80, with room for 40 on each of the two levels, and an outdoor patio can hold 20 in the warmer months. The upper level, which overlooks Wellington Street, has its own bar and can accommodate business meetings and private functions.

I really enjoyed this res, it was well priced and delicious they really seemed to take care of their food and had a passion for pleasing people!
Great contemporary Indian food. A two level restaurant, the upper level has the bar and can serve as a private function room for corporate or private events. There is also a great outdoor patio. The panir and brie croquettes are really good.
Love this place to have contemporary Indian food in an elegant environment. The seafood is fantastic in spicy salsa chutney,it is the perfect way to compliment the tiger shrimps. Great place for a celebration dinner or a date.
For the price this restaurant was fantastic.
We went for supper for wine and a meal and it was great. Genuine Indian food in a quiet atmosphere.
We had appetizers, wine, and a meal for about $50 apiece.
It is the kind of restaurant you would feel uncomfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, it was quiet and a little boring inside to be honest, but the food made up for it.

The food was presented quite magnificently, comes with fresh (tasty!) garnishes and delicious sauces for the croquettes and crab cakes. great mango lassi. drink up.
As per usual I was taken here on request of my girlfriend, she loves Indian food. We were happy with what we got. The food was fantastic! And she liked the amount of wine choices they had. The price was competitive too.
